Using LPD, RAW, and WSD
Select whether to use any of the protocols below on the machine when printing or scanning documents from a computer.
You are recommended to disable any protocols you will not be using.
When using LPD or RAW, you can configure the time until reception of print data is canceled.
LPD
This protocol is not dependent on the hardware, operating system, or other platform. It is commonly used in TCP/IP network environments.
RAW
This is Windows' proprietary print data type protocol. It is used as standard in a Windows environment.
WSD
This protocol enables automatic detection of network-connected printers and scanners in a Windows environment.
This section describes how to configure the settings using Remote UI from a computer.
On the control panel, select [
Settings/Registration] in the [Home] screen or other screen, and then select [Preferences] to configure the settings.
[TCP/IP Settings]Administrator or NetworkAdmin privileges are required.

Log in to Remote UI as an administrator.

On the Portal page of Remote UI, click [Settings/Registration].

Click [Network Settings].

Configure the settings of LPD, RAW, or WSD.
When Using LPD

Click [LPD Print Settings].
The [LPD Print Settings] screen is displayed.

Set whether to use LPD.
When not using LPD, clear the [Use LPD] checkbox, and proceed to Step
5.

Enter the time in [RX Timeout].
Enter the time in minutes from the start of reception standby, after print data reception is canceled, to the timeout.
When Using RAW

Click [RAW Print Settings].
The [RAW Print Settings] screen is displayed.

Set whether to use RAW.
When not using RAW, clear the [Use RAW] checkbox, and proceed to Step
5.

Set whether to use bidirectional communication.
Select [Use Bidirectional Communication] checkbox to send notification of the machine's status and when printing is completed to the computer.

Enter the time in [RX Timeout].
Enter the time in minutes from the start of reception standby, after print data reception is canceled, to the timeout.
When Using WSD

Click [WSD Settings].
The [WSD Settings] screen is displayed.

Set whether to use WSD for each function.
When not using WSD, clear the checkboxes of the functions for restricting use of WSD.
Using WSD to Print Data
Select the [Use WSD] checkbox.
The [Use WSD Browsing] checkbox is selected automatically, and WSD is used to obtain the information of the machine from the computer.
Using WSD to Scan Data
Select the [Use WSD Scan] checkbox. You can perform scanning from a computer without having to install a scanner driver.
Click [OK].
The settings are applied.

Log out from Remote UI.
NOTE
Outputting an LPD Banner Page
If you use LPD, you can set whether to output banner pages when banner pages are configured for the print data.
[LPD Print Settings]* Use the control panel to configure the banner page output settings. You cannot configure the settings using Remote UI from a computer.
Adding a WSD Network Device
Click [
] (Start)

[Bluetooth & devices]
[Printers & scanners]
[Add device] for [Add a printer or scanner]
[Add device] for the machine, and perform the operations following the instructions on the screen.
